The HERTEL 83240648 is a reduced shank cobalt drill bit designed for drilling into tough materials including hardened stainless steel, heat-treated alloy, and high-temperature alloy. It features a 1-3/16 inch cutting diameter with a reduced 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to be held in standard 1/2 inch chucks despite the larger drill diameter. The 135-degree notched point angle improves self-centering and reduces walking on hard surfaces. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating extends tool life by increasing surface hardness and reducing friction. Machinists and maintenance technicians use this bit for demanding general-purpose hole-making in industrial and production environments.
This drill bit is suited for metalworking applications where the workpiece material is hardened stainless steel, heat-treated alloy, or high-temperature alloy. The right-hand spiral flute design clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. With a 3 inch flute length and 6 inch overall length, it handles moderate-depth drilling tasks. The reduced shank design makes it practical for use in drill presses and milling machines equipped with standard 1/2 inch chucks without requiring a larger collet or chuck upgrade.
Designed for general-purpose drilling in hardened stainless steel, heat-treated alloy, and high-temperature alloy workpieces. Compatible with drill presses and milling machine spindles accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians on drill presses or milling machines. Secure the 1/2 inch shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet before operation. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle is stopped before changing or adjusting the bit. Do not exceed the recommended drilling depth of 3 inches, and use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant as required by the workpiece material even though the bit is rated for dry use.
