The HERTEL 8272213 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer produces accurate, smooth bores in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 41/64 inch (0.6406 inch decimal) cutting diameter, 9-inch overall length, and 2-1/4 inch flute length give machinists the reach and stock removal capacity needed for through-hole and moderate blind-hole reaming. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly in drill chucks or collet holders without adapter sleeves. Eight right-hand cutting flutes distribute cutting load evenly, reducing chatter and improving finish quality in production and job-shop environments.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop, toolroom, and production floor use on drill presses, lathes, and machining centers. It is appropriate for operators finishing holes that require tight dimensional tolerances and controlled surface finish. Typical applications include bearing seat preparation, bushing installation bores, and fixture work where consistent diameter control is critical. The HSS construction handles interrupted cuts and moderate feed rates without the brittleness associated with carbide tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders on drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling.
Chucking reamers should be installed and used by qualified machinists following standard machine tool safety practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling or inspecting the cutting edges.
