The HERTEL 79892782 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding industrial and trade applications. Ground to a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning, it delivers clean entry and reduced thrust in hard materials. The bright (uncoated) finish suits applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern. At 4.5 inches overall length with a 2.875-inch spiral flute, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers without modification. Two right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix efficiently evacuate chips and maintain bore quality across a range of workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank at 13/32 inches diameter seats securely in collets and keyless chucks.
This bit is suited for metalworking, fabrication, and general machining where solid carbide tooling is required over high-speed steel. Typical applications include production drilling in cast iron, hardened steels, aluminum alloys, and composite materials. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and industrial maintenance technicians reach for carbide jobber bits when hole tolerances and tool life are critical factors. The 13/32-inch diameter places it in the 0.4000 to 0.5000 inch drill size range, and the tapered web configuration reduces walking at drill entry.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production-run carbide drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld drills equipped with collet or keyless chuck systems accepting a 13/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck or collet are clean and free of runout before seating the bit, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Power down and de-energize the machine fully before changing tooling. Do not use carbide drill bits without adequate workpiece clamping, as vibration and chatter can cause tool breakage.
