The HERTEL 79892642 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built to a C2 carbide grade and finished with a bright coating, this bit delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for drilling through tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a standard 118-degree point angle, a web-thinned tapered web for improved chip clearance and reduced entry force, and a two-flute regular spiral design. At 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) in diameter and 3-3/4 inches overall length, it fits standard drill chucks and CNC spindles without adapters.
This drill bit is suited for high-performance production and maintenance machining environments where carbide tooling is specified over high-speed steel. Typical applications include metalworking shops, tool-and-die operations, aerospace component fabrication, and industrial maintenance drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in collets, Jacobs-style chucks, and keyless chucks commonly found on drill presses, machining centers, and CNC lathes running live tooling.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit with a 5/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with any drill chuck, collet, or spindle toolholder accepting that shank diameter.
Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Carbide is brittle — avoid side-loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed adjustment, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits before use to prevent premature chipping of the cutting edges.
