The HERTEL 79892600 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Ground to a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning for improved penetration, this bit features a bright coating, regular spiral flute geometry, and a straight-cylindrical shank. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 2.125-inch flute length, it delivers the reach and chip evacuation needed for production and maintenance drilling applications. The C2 carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance required when cutting through hardened steels, cast iron, and abrasive materials. It is a right-hand, two-flute configuration with a tapered web and no coolant-through feature.
This bit is suited for metalworking environments including machining shops, tool rooms, and maintenance operations where carbide cutting tools are preferred over high-speed steel for longer tool life and tighter tolerances. The 9/32-inch diameter (0.2812 inches decimal) falls within the 0.2500 to 0.3000-inch size range and is used for hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. Machinists and maintenance technicians typically use this bit in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools where a straight-cylindrical shank is appropriate.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit with a straight-cylindrical shank compatible with conventional drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 9/32-inch shank diameter.
Carbide drill bits are more brittle than high-speed steel and require rigid setups to prevent breakage — avoid using in hand-held drills where lateral loading is likely. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck is rated for the shank diameter. When drilling hard materials, use appropriate cutting fluid to manage heat buildup and extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use, as carbide tips can chip if subjected to impact or improper storage.
