The HERTEL 79891735 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 59 (0.0410 inches diameter), designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short. The bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a web-thinned tapered web for reduced thrust and cleaner entry, and a bright (uncoated) finish suited for applications where coolant or lubrication is applied externally. With a regular spiral, two-flute design and straight cylindrical shank, it fits standard chucks without adapters. Diameter tolerance is held to -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches, making it appropriate for close-tolerance hole work. This is a high-performance grade C2 carbide tool.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held precision drilling equipment where small-diameter, tight-tolerance holes are required. Common applications include circuit board work, instrument manufacturing, precision metalworking, and any operation calling for a No. 59 wire-gauge hole in ferrous or non-ferrous materials. The 1.5-inch overall length and 0.75-inch flute length make it most practical for shallow-hole drilling in thin stock or workpieces where deep penetration is not required. Coolant-through capability is not present, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied when drilling harder materials.

Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the straight cylindrical shank firmly in a precision drill chuck rated for the spindle speed required by the workpiece material. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rates, or dropping the bit, as chipping or fracture can result. Power down the machine completely and confirm zero spindle movement before changing or inspecting the bit.
