The HERTEL 79891669 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 68, with a decimal diameter of 0.0310 inches. Built from C2-grade solid carbide with a bright finish, this bit is suited for precision drilling in hard materials where dimensional accuracy and cutting edge life are critical. The 118-degree standard point angle provides a reliable entry geometry across a wide range of work materials. At 1.125 inches overall length with a 0.375-inch spiral flute, this is a compact, high-performance tool for small-diameter drilling applications. A web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip clearance at the cutting face.
This bit is designed for use in machining, fabrication, and maintenance applications that require tight-tolerance, small-diameter holes. Wire gauge No. 68 sizing is common in instrument manufacturing, electronics assembly, precision mechanical work, and similar trades where undersized or close-tolerance clearance holes are required. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld precision drilling tools. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute makes it compatible with standard right-hand rotation spindles.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production drill bit for applications requiring wire gauge No. 68 sizing in solid carbide. Fits standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0310-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified tradespeople familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a precision drill chuck before operation and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits, as carbide bits at this diameter are sensitive to deflection and side loading. Do not use in applications that exceed the bit diameter tolerance range or apply lateral force during drilling. Handle with care — solid carbide is brittle and will fracture if dropped onto hard surfaces.
