The HERTEL 79891271 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal machining applications. With a 5 mm (0.1969 inch) reamer diameter and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this tool delivers accurate, repeatable bore sizing in production and maintenance environments. The straight, four-flute geometry and bright uncoated finish make it well suited for controlled finishing passes in a wide range of workpiece materials. At 3 inches overall length with a 1 inch flute length, it fits standard chucking setups on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This reamer is used in precision machining operations where drilled or bored holes require a tight dimensional finish. The straight cylindrical shank allows secure seating in standard collet chucks or drill chucks. It is appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where consistent 5 mm bore sizing is required. The right-hand cutting direction is the standard for conventional feed-in operation. With a 1 inch flute length, it is best suited for shallow to moderate hole depths.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production chucking reamer for use in any machine tool equipped with a standard straight-shank collet or drill chuck capable of holding a 5 mm shank diameter.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists in CNC or manual machine tool setups. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece are fully stopped before inserting or removing the tool from the chuck. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality. Do not use a reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to near-final size before reaming.
