The HERTEL 79891099 is a solid carbide chucking reamer sized to Letter L (0.2900 inches diameter) with a straight flute and straight cylindrical shank. Designed for precision hole finishing, this reamer holds a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0003 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance bore work in metal fabrication, machining, and toolroom applications. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction delivers excellent rigidity and cutting-edge retention in abrasive or hard-material applications. With 6 flutes and a right-hand cutting direction, it produces a clean, consistent finish in through-holes and blind bores. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of reamer in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where hole diameter accuracy is critical. The straight flute geometry works well in short-chipping materials such as cast iron, brass, and some aluminum alloys. The straight cylindrical shank allows it to be held in standard collets, drill chucks, or floating reamer holders. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute length, it fits standard toolholding setups on both benchtop and full-size machines.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses where a straight cylindrical shank and Letter L diameter are specified.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the reamer. Use a properly sized collet or floating reamer holder to minimize runout and prevent bell-mouthing of the finished bore. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality.
