The HERTEL 79890729 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to finish-size drilled holes to precise tolerances in metalworking and machining applications. Built to wire size 37, it produces a reamed diameter of 0.1040 inches with a tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, making it suitable for applications that demand close-tolerance hole sizing. The straight-flute, straight-cylindrical shank design is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. Four flutes provide a smooth cutting action with a right-hand cutting direction. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction offers rigidity and wear resistance when reaming ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This reamer is used in production and job-shop machining environments where wire-size holes must be held to tight dimensional tolerances. It is well suited for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses equipped with appropriate workholding. The 2.25-inch overall length and 0.625-inch flute length make it appropriate for shallow through-holes and short blind holes in a wide range of materials. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision parts manufacturers are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, collet holders, and machine spindles that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling sized for wire-gauge diameter reamers.
This tool is installed and used by machinists operating drill presses, manual mills, or CNC machining centers. Before installing or changing tooling, power down the machine and confirm the spindle has come to a complete stop. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to minimize runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and run the reamer at speeds and feeds consistent with solid carbide tooling guidelines for the material being machined.
