The HERTEL 79890570 is a solid carbide chucking reamer in wire size 20, designed to finish-ream holes to a precise 0.1610 inch diameter. Built from solid carbide with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers close-tolerance sizing with a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches. The straight, four-flute design and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for through-hole and blind-hole reaming in a variety of workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders. At 2.75 inches overall length with a 0.875 inch flute length, it is sized for short-reach applications on the bench, drill press, or CNC machining center.
This reamer is used in machine shop, toolroom, and production environments where wire-gauge hole sizing is required. Wire size 20 corresponds to 0.1610 inch, a common diameter in precision fixture work, dowel pin holes, and close-tolerance bore finishing. It is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where solid carbide tooling provides the rigidity and wear resistance needed to hold tight tolerance from the first hole to the last. Machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators working in job shop or production settings are the primary installers of this tooling.
Designed as a standard wire-size chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with straight-shank toolholders or collet chucks accepting a 0.1610 inch shank diameter.
Installation and use of chucking reamers should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece fixture are fully secured before starting the cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to promote tool life and surface finish. Never run a reamer in reverse, as this will damage the cutting edges.
