The HERTEL 79890257 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a nominal diameter of 15/64 inches (0.2344 inches decimal) and a tight diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this reamer holds close size control for demanding tolerance work. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it suitable for through-hole and blind-hole reaming on CNC machines, drill presses, and manual lathes. At 3 inches overall length with a 1 inch flute length, it fits standard chuck setups without overhang concerns. Machinists, tool and die makers, and production machine operators are the primary users of this tool.
This chucking reamer is used in general machining environments where bored or drilled holes require a precise final diameter. The 15/64 inch size is common in jig and fixture work, pin-fit applications, and precision component manufacturing. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and collet holders, making it a straightforward drop-in for most machine tool setups. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for use with cutting fluids on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion or heat buildup is not a primary concern.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, collet holders, and reamer-holding fixtures on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes that accept straight-shank tooling.
Installation of this reamer is performed by qualified machinists following standard machine tool safety procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before securing the shank in the chuck or collet holder, and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for solid carbide tooling in the applicable material.
