The HERTEL 79889788 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and toolroom applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.205 inches and a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this tool delivers tight, repeatable bore sizing in a single pass. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard chucks and collets. Four straight flutes provide smooth cutting action with a right-hand cut direction. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators use this reamer to bring drilled or bored holes to final tolerance in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where consistent hole tolerance is required. Its 3-inch overall length and 1-inch flute length make it a compact, rigid tool appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth finishing passes on vertical machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes. The bright, uncoated finish means this tool can be used as-is or reground when worn.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard chucking reamer for use in any machine setup accepting a straight-cylindrical shank reamer of equivalent diameter.
This reamer is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician into a drill chuck, collet, or reamer holder sized to the straight shank. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle speed and feed rate are set per the material being reamed before engaging the tool. Always use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant to extend tool life and maintain bore finish. Inspect the shank and cutting edges for damage before each use.
