The HERTEL 79889432 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.127 inches and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this tool delivers accurate, repeatable results in production and job-shop environments. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for through-hole reaming in a range of workpiece materials. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch flute length, it is compact enough for close-tolerance work in confined setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this reamer in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes using a standard straight cylindrical shank.
This chucking reamer is intended for finish reaming of small-diameter holes requiring close dimensional control. The solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance suitable for cast iron, steel, aluminum, and similar materials commonly encountered in precision machining, toolroom work, and light production runs. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coating buildup could affect the finished hole tolerance. Four flutes provide good chip clearance and surface finish in straight through-hole conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style precision chucking reamer for use in straight-shank toolholders, drill chucks, and collet systems sized for a 0.127-inch diameter straight shank reamer.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with reaming operations and cutting tool safety. Power down the machine and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the reamer. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck or collet to the manufacturer-recommended grip length before engaging the workpiece. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole-finish quality; never run a carbide reamer dry in materials that generate excessive heat without lubrication.
