The HERTEL 79510434 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent sizing on through-holes and blind holes across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The reamer measures 0.5090 inches in diameter with an 8-inch overall length and a 2-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating holders. Six flutes provide smooth cutting action and accurate final bore dimensions. This tool is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC setup technicians.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine reaming operations in light manufacturing, job shop, and toolroom settings. It is appropriate for finishing pre-drilled or bored holes to close tolerances in materials compatible with HSS tooling. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional clockwise spindle rotation on lathes, mills, and drill presses. The 0.5090-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999 inch reamer diameter range, making it a practical selection for applications requiring a finish bore just above the nominal half-inch dimension.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck, collet chuck, or floating reamer holder accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
A licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician should install and operate this reamer. Always bring the spindle to a full stop before changing tooling, and ensure the shank is fully seated and securely clamped in the holder before starting the cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for HSS tooling in the material being machined.
