The HERTEL 77428845 is a reduced shank drill bit designed for drilling into low and medium tensile strength materials. The bit features a 29/32 inch (0.9062 inch decimal) cutting diameter paired with a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank, allowing it to seat securely in compatible chucks and tool holders. The 118-degree standard point angle suits general-purpose drilling applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit offers durability in production and maintenance drilling environments. It is a right-hand cut spiral flute design with a regular spiral configuration. Licensed tradespeople and machinists working in fabrication, maintenance, and light industrial settings are the primary users of this tool.
This drill bit is suited for use on drill presses, milling machines, and magnetic-base drills where a Weldon flat shank is required for positive drive. It performs reliably in drilling mild steel, aluminum, plastics, and other low to medium tensile strength workpiece materials. The 3-inch flute length accommodates moderate-depth holes, making it appropriate for structural and fabrication work where standard deep-hole tooling is not required. The 1/2 inch reduced shank allows use in standard 1/2 inch capacity tool holders even though the cutting diameter exceeds that size.
Designed as a reduced shank drill bit for use in 1/2 inch capacity Weldon-style tool holders and chucks on drill presses, milling machines, and magnetic-base drilling equipment. Suitable for low and medium tensile strength workpiece materials.
Install and remove this bit only after the machine spindle has come to a complete stop and the power source has been locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the Weldon flat shank fully within the tool holder and tighten all set screws against the flats before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for wear or damage before each use. Coolant is not required for this bit, but proper feed and speed selection for the workpiece material will extend tool life.
