The HERTEL 77428639 is a reduced shank twist drill bit machined from high-speed steel and finished with an oxide coating for basic corrosion and heat resistance. The bit features a 19/32 inch cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank, allowing it to seat securely in compatible chucks and reduce slippage under load. The 118-degree standard point angle is suited for general-purpose drilling into low and medium tensile strength materials. With a 6 inch overall length and a 3 inch flute length, this bit is appropriate for moderate-depth hole work. It is a right-hand cut design with a regular spiral flute. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals install this bit in standard drill presses, milling machines, and compatible handheld equipment.
This drill bit is intended for use in metalworking and general fabrication environments where a reduced shank design is needed to fit a 1/2 inch chuck while maintaining a larger cutting diameter. Primary workpiece materials include low and medium tensile strength metals such as mild steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The Weldon flat shank with three flats provides positive drive engagement, making it well suited for machine tool applications where torque transfer and bit retention are critical. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both production shop use and maintenance applications.
Designed for use in drill presses, milling machines, and other machine tools equipped with a 1/2 inch chuck or collet. Suitable for drilling low and medium tensile strength materials as specified by the manufacturer.
This bit should be installed and secured by a qualified machinist or maintenance professional familiar with machine tool operation. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and locked out before changing bits. Confirm the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw in the chuck or tool holder before applying torque. Do not exceed the rated drilling depth of 3 inches for a single pass without clearing chips from the flutes.
