The HERTEL 75987727 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat and wear resistance required for interrupted cuts and tough ferrous materials. The 3-flute coarse-pitch geometry produces a ripping action that reduces cutting forces and clears chips efficiently. A TiCN coating further extends tool life by lowering friction and increasing surface hardness. With a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 2.25 inch length of cut, and a 4.5 inch overall length, this end mill fits standard milling chucks and collet holders common in job-shop and production environments. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and operators.
This roughing end mill is suited for high-stock-removal passes on CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and horizontal milling machines. It performs well in steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, and other materials where cobalt tooling is the standard recommendation. The coarse pitch reduces chatter during heavy roughing cuts, making it a practical choice for hogging out pockets, slots, and profiles before a finishing pass. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction match the conventional spindle rotation found on most vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Designed as a standard 3/4 inch shank roughing end mill compatible with milling chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders sized for 3/4 inch shanks on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with milling machine setup and tooling procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Ensure the holder and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to achieve proper runout. Follow machine manufacturer torque recommendations for drawbar and collet nut tightening.
