The HERTEL 75987438 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with good heat and wear resistance. The 2-inch diameter cutting head carries 8 right-hand flutes in a coarse pitch configuration, which breaks chips efficiently and reduces cutting pressure during heavy roughing passes. With a 4-inch length of cut and a 6.5-inch overall length, this tool suits deeper pocketing and profiling work on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for roughing applications where high material removal rates take priority over finish quality. The coarse pitch flute geometry is optimized for slotting, profiling, and pocketing in steel, stainless, and other hard alloys. The 1.25-inch shank diameter is compatible with standard CAT, BT, and R8 toolholders of the appropriate bore. This is a non-centercutting tool and is not intended for plunge cuts. It is a right-hand cutting, right-hand flute design, consistent with conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with toolholders accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter. Not centercutting; plunge entry is not supported.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state before loading or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cutting pass, as excessive runout on a large-diameter roughing tool accelerates flute wear and can cause chatter.
