The HERTEL 750501 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal cutting applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock and finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this tool handles harder workpiece materials and elevated cutting temperatures that would degrade high-speed steel tooling. The 3/16 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The centercutting geometry allows plunge milling as well as peripheral cuts. Two flutes keep chip load manageable at this diameter. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional spindle rotation.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and plunge cutting in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a small-diameter, high-performance tool is required. The 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and toolholders sized for that bore. Typical applications include die and mold work, fixture machining, and close-tolerance part features in job shop and production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tool class.
Designed for use in collet chucks, end mill holders, and toolholders with a 3/16 inch bore. Verify holder runout and collet condition before use, as small-diameter carbide tooling is sensitive to setup concentricity.
Installation is performed by machinists on CNC machining centers or manual vertical mills. Power down the spindle and confirm the machine is in an E-stop or locked state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use — carbide end mills at this diameter are brittle and should not be installed if any chipping is visible on the flutes or corner radii.
