The HERTEL 750456 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and hard-material applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock and finished with an AlTiN coating, this tool delivers thermal resistance and wear performance suited to dry and high-speed cutting environments. It runs a 2-flute, right-hand cut geometry with a 30-degree helix angle and centercutting capability, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The 3/8 inch diameter with a matching 3/8 inch shank keeps the setup rigid in standard ER or straight-bore toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for profiling, slotting, and light ramping cuts in ferrous and nonferrous metals, including hardened steels and stainless alloys where AlTiN coating performance is an advantage. The 7/8 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length fit standard short-reach toolpaths on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines. The right-hand flute direction and 30-degree helix promote smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces in a wide range of milling strategies.
Designed as a standard short-length square end mill compatible with any toolholder accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank, including ER16, ER20, and straight-bore collet chucks on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Ensure the shank is seated to the full recommended insertion depth in the toolholder to prevent runout and pullout during cut. Inspect the collet or chuck bore for chips or wear before seating, and verify tool runout with a dial indicator before commencing production cuts. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards for torque specifications on toolholder retention hardware.
