The HERTEL 750316 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tool delivers extended wear resistance and thermal stability compared to uncoated or TiN-coated alternatives. The 4-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Centercutting capability allows for direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. The extra-long overall length and extended length of cut make it well suited for deep-pocket and slotting operations that shorter tools cannot reach.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills across job shop, toolroom, and production environments. The extra-long configuration at 6 inches overall length with a 3-inch length of cut is a common choice when workpiece geometry, fixtures, or setups require additional clearance. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation is standard for conventional spindle rotation. Machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians working in steel, stainless, cast iron, and high-temp alloys are the primary users of TiCN-coated micrograin carbide tooling of this type.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-install solid carbide square end mill for standard 1/2-inch collets, end mill holders, and hydraulic or shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening; under-engagement is a leading cause of tool pullout and workpiece damage. Inspect the collet or holder bore for runout and contamination before use, as excess runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality on a tight-tolerance carbide tool of this type.
