The HERTEL 750248 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining environments. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long category for extended reach applications. The 4-flute, spiral flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in ferrous and high-temp alloy materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry. Machinist and CNC operators in production and job shop environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, profiles, and contours on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The extra-long overall length makes it appropriate for deep cavity work and setups where standard-length tools cannot reach the workpiece. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration matches standard spindle rotation on most CNC machining centers and manual mills. Micrograin carbide substrate provides the toughness and wear resistance needed for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank square end mill compatible with ER and straight-bore collet systems, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 0.5-inch shank tooling on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth and torque the collet nut or set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tools can fail suddenly if run with damaged geometry.
