The HERTEL 750240 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The tool features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length on a 0.5 inch shank. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The TiCN coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. Micrograin carbide construction provides the toughness and edge retention required for consistent results in production environments. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The 750240 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous metals, alloy steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where TiCN-coated carbide delivers reliable performance. The long length-of-cut classification at 2 inches supports deeper axial engagement when workpiece geometry or fixture clearance requires it. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled starting hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills.
Designed as a standard 0.5 inch shank square end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders sized for 0.5 inch straight shanks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify collet or holder bore size matches the 0.5 inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the correct gauge length before tightening. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque range for this shank diameter.
