The HERTEL 74611500 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise material removal in milling operations. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it delivers hard, wear-resistant cutting edges suited to ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The 0.5 inch diameter cutter features a 1 inch length of cut, a 30-degree right-hand helix, and a 2-flute spiral geometry that promotes chip evacuation in slotting and profiling cuts. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 0.5 inch straight shank. This end mill is a single-end, center-cutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge entry as well as peripheral and face milling.
This end mill is used in vertical machining centers, manual knee mills, and CNC milling setups for finish and semi-finish passes on aluminum, steel, stainless, and similar materials. The 2-flute layout is particularly well-suited for aluminum and softer alloys where chip clearance is critical. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional and climb milling on most general-purpose machines. Machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers working in job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments will find this a reliable general-purpose cutter.
Designed for use in standard 0.5 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, or Weldon-style side-lock holders on vertical machining centers and manual mills. No specific machine model compatibility was provided in the product data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Torque the set screw or collet nut to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
