The HERTEL 74459892 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and general machining applications. Built from solid carbide with a bright coating, it delivers consistent performance in materials where high wear resistance is required. The bit measures 1.5 mm in diameter (0.0591 inches) with a 118-degree standard drill point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. Overall length is 1.5 inches, with a 0.75-inch flute length. A straight-cylindrical shank allows direct chucking in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute pattern rounds out the geometry. This bit is appropriate for use by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and precision trade technicians.
This drill bit is suited for small-diameter precision work in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials. Its 1.5 mm diameter targets close-tolerance hole applications where standard high-speed steel bits lack the rigidity and edge retention needed. The solid carbide construction and C2 material grade make it appropriate for production environments and CNC machining centers as well as manual drill press operations. Coolant-through capability is not included, so external coolant or dry-cutting practices apply depending on material and feed rate.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit suitable for use in CNC machining centers, manual drill presses, and handheld drilling equipment with chucks or collets capable of holding a 0.0591-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before seating or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excessive runout will reduce bit life and hole accuracy at this diameter. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material, as solid carbide is rigid but brittle under lateral loading.
