The HERTEL 74132507 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit engineered for high-productivity drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and industrial maintenance applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating, this bit handles elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials that would quickly degrade standard HSS tooling. It drills a 0.0635-inch diameter hole (wire gauge size 52) with a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact and reduces the thrust required to start the cut. The short 1-11/16-inch overall length provides added rigidity, minimizing deflection in applications where accuracy and straightness are critical.
This drill bit is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills where small-diameter precision holes are required. Typical applications include tapping prep, instrument panel drilling, sheet metal work, and close-tolerance work on stainless steel, hardened alloys, cast iron, and other hard-to-machine materials. The web-thinned, parallel-web geometry reduces walking and improves chip evacuation in blind and through holes alike. It is sold individually but is subject to a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for any application requiring a wire gauge size 52 (0.0635-inch diameter) screw machine length drill bit with a straight cylindrical shank. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting that shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools and applicable shop safety standards. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout before drilling. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during the cut. Do not exceed the recommended surface footage for the workpiece material, and replace the bit at first signs of dulling to avoid breakage on this small-diameter tool.
