The HERTEL 74130485 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in tough, hard-to-machine materials. Built from high-speed cobalt (HSCO) steel with a straw finish, this bit measures 19/32 inches (0.5938 inches) in diameter and carries a 135-degree split point for fast, accurate starts without a center punch. The screw machine length format keeps the bit short and rigid, reducing deflection on the drill press or in a hand drill. Two regular spiral flutes clear chips efficiently throughout the 2-5/8 inch flute length, and the parallel web with web thinning reduces thrust requirements on harder workpiece materials.
This drill bit is built for licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, maintenance technicians, and industrial tradespeople working with stainless steel, tough alloys, and other materials that wear out standard high-speed steel tooling. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. With an overall length of 4-1/8 inches, it is well suited for close-clearance drilling applications where a jobber-length bit would flex or chatter. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drilling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style screw machine length drill bit in the HSCO135 series, suitable for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight cylindrical shanks in the 0.5000 to 0.6000 inch diameter range.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with drill press, CNC, or hand-drill operation. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the chuck is fully tightened before operation. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or tough alloys to manage heat. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace at first signs of chipping or excessive wear to avoid workpiece damage.
