The HERTEL 72308299 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Built from cobalt steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it holds tight tolerances on finished bore diameters. The reamer measures 0.1360 inches in diameter, corresponding to a No. 29 wire gauge size. Overall length is 4 inches with a 1-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in drill chucks or collet holders. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and manual drilling setups. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals requiring accurate, repeatable hole sizing.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and job-shop environments where wire-gauge-size holes must be reamed to close tolerances. It is appropriate for ferrous and non-ferrous materials where cobalt steel provides added heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel. The short 1-inch flute length makes it well-suited for shallow through-holes and blind holes in fixture plates, jigs, and machined components where hole depth is limited.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual lathes equipped with standard drill chucks or collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 0.1360 inches.
This reamer is installed by a machinist or toolroom professional. Power down and secure the machine before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before engaging the workpiece. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality.
