The HERTEL 72300346 is a cobalt steel chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a 17/32 inch (0.5313 inch decimal) diameter and an 8 inch overall length, this reamer is built to enlarge and finish pre-drilled holes to tight tolerances. The straight flute geometry and bright, uncoated finish make it well suited for a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It installs via a straight-cylindrical shank and operates with right-hand cutting direction. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shop environments where hole sizing accuracy and surface finish quality are critical. It fits drilling and milling machines, lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with compatible chuck or collet systems. The 2 inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for typical through-hole and blind-hole reaming operations in production and job-shop settings.
Designed for use with drilling machines, lathes, and machining centers that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the corresponding diameter range.
This reamer should be installed by a qualified machinist following standard machine shop practices. Secure the shank firmly in a compatible chuck or collet and verify runout before reaming. Always reduce spindle speed relative to drilling and apply appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and achieve the desired finish. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing or adjusting tooling.
