The HERTEL 72300072 is a cobalt steel chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled holes to precise tolerances. With a 7/64 inch (0.1094 inch decimal) cutting diameter, a 3-1/2 inch overall length, and a 7/8 inch straight flute length, this tool delivers accurate hole sizing in ferrous and hard alloy materials where high-speed steel falls short. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for cobalt-grade reamers used in general machine shop and maintenance applications. Four right-hand straight flutes provide clean, consistent cutting action. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this reamer in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses using a standard straight-cylindrical shank chuck or collet.
This reamer is suited for precision hole finishing in metal fabrication, production machining, and maintenance repair operations. The 0.1094 inch diameter targets applications requiring a tight-tolerance finish pass after drilling. Cobalt steel construction handles elevated cutting temperatures better than standard HSS, making it a practical choice for stainless steel, cast iron, and other work-hardening alloys. It is sold and packaged individually.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in any machine tool or drill press equipped with a straight-cylindrical shank chuck or collet capable of holding a 7/64 inch diameter tool.
Chucking reamers are installed by licensed machinists and skilled trade professionals in machine tool applications. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to prolong tool life and achieve finish tolerances — dry reaming cobalt-grade tooling in hard alloys is not recommended.
