The HERTEL 72297229 is a Letter V chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal fabrication and machining operations. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer produces accurate finished bores at a diameter of 0.3770 inches. The 6-flute, right-hand spiral configuration provides smooth cutting action and efficient chip evacuation. With an overall length of 5 inches and a flute length of 1.75 inches, it is sized for standard chuck-mounted use on drill presses, lathes, and machining centers. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this style of chucking reamer for holding tight hole tolerances in production and maintenance environments.
This chucking reamer is suited for reaming pre-drilled holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals to Letter V size. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard drill chucks or collets without adapters. It is appropriate for use in job shops, production floors, and maintenance repair operations where consistent bore size and surface finish are required. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional machine spindle rotation on most mill and lathe setups.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders on drill presses, lathes, and machining centers accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist using a properly sized chuck or collet to ensure runout is minimized. Always ream from a pre-drilled pilot hole that is undersized by the appropriate allowance for the material and reamer diameter. Secure the workpiece firmly and apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material before beginning the operation. Never reverse spindle direction during a reaming pass, as this can damage the cutting edges.
