The HERTEL 72297021 is a high-speed steel chucking reamer sized to Letter B (0.2380 inches diameter) for finishing drilled or bored holes to close tolerances. Built with 6 right-hand spiral flutes, it produces a smooth bore finish while efficiently evacuating chips. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet without adapters. At 4 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch flute length, it is sized for light to moderate material removal in precision finishing operations. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians use this type of reamer when hole size and finish quality are critical to fit or assembly requirements.
This reamer is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills or lathes where a straight-shank tool is appropriate. It is a standard production and maintenance tool for finishing holes in ferrous metals, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The 6-flute spiral geometry provides a balance of chip clearance and surface finish quality suitable for through-holes and blind holes within its diameter range of 0.2000 to 0.2499 inches.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the appropriate collet or chuck size for a Letter B diameter tool.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a precision collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout with a dial indicator when tolerance is critical. Always machine at the recommended speed and feed for the workpiece material and apply cutting fluid appropriate for HSS tooling to extend tool life and improve finish. Never force the reamer into an undersized hole; the pre-drilled or bored hole should be within the accepted stock-removal allowance for reaming.
