The HERTEL 72297013 is a straight-shank chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and similar materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer is sized to Letter A (0.2340 inch decimal diameter) and delivers clean, accurate finished bores through a 6-flute, right-hand spiral cutting geometry. At 3-7/8 inches overall length with a 1-1/2 inch flute length, it fits standard drill press and lathe chuck setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of reamer as the final sizing pass to achieve tight bore tolerances that drilling alone cannot produce.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where Letter A diameter holes are required. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into drill chucks, collets, or floating holders on drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers. The right-hand cutting direction and spiral flute configuration promote smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finish across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is not configured as a dowel pin reamer or as an over/under size reamer.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and machining centers that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the Letter A diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists using standard drill chucks or collet holders; ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is properly tightened before operation. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Do not use a chucking reamer as a primary drilling tool — it is a finishing tool intended for pre-drilled or bored holes that are already close to final size.
