The HERTEL 72296213 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine tool applications. It carries a 0.1870-inch cutting diameter with a right-hand spiral flute configuration and produces a slightly oversized bore at 0.1885 inches over-size, making it well-suited for controlled-fit hole finishing where a standard reamer dimension is not the target. The 6-flute geometry supports smooth cutting action and consistent surface finish. With a 3.5-inch overall length and a 1.125-inch flute length, this reamer is compact enough for close-tolerance work in moderate-depth holes. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for general-purpose HSS tooling in this size range.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in drill presses, lathes, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines where a floating or rigid chuck holds the tool. It is appropriate for finishing holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals in light manufacturing, tool-and-die, maintenance, and repair machining environments. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders commonly found in machine shops and maintenance facilities. It is not a dowel pin reamer and is classified as an over-size reamer rather than a nominal or under-size configuration.
Designed as a machine chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers that accept a straight-cylindrical shank tool in this diameter range. This is an over-size reamer and is not a direct substitute for nominal or dowel pin reamer applications.
A qualified machinist or toolroom technician should install and operate this reamer. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet before starting the machine, and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore quality.
