The HERTEL 72295124 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. With a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch decimal) diameter and a 6-flute spiral configuration, this reamer delivers a smooth, accurate bore in a single pass. The bright, uncoated finish is well-suited for general-purpose reaming where coolant or cutting fluid handles chip evacuation and heat management. Overall length is 3-1/2 inches with a 1-1/8 inch flute length, making it compact enough for close-tolerance work in a drill press, lathe, or CNC machining center. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This chucking reamer is used in production and maintenance machining environments where hole diameter accuracy is critical. It is appropriate for reaming through-holes and blind holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly in a standard drill chuck or collet holder. The right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction help pull the reamer into the work and evacuate chips efficiently during operation. It is sized at 0.1870 inches for dowel pin applications, which is typical for light press-fit or slip-fit dowel pin bores.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, Jacobs-style chucks, and collet holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers. Dowel pin reference size is 0.1870 inches as stated in manufacturer specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with reaming feeds, speeds, and cutting fluid requirements for the workpiece material. Always secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Do not use a reamer as a drill — the starting hole must be pre-drilled undersize before reaming. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine guarding practices during operation.
