The HERTEL 72290513 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal workpieces. Ground to a wire gauge size 51 diameter of 0.0670 inches, this reamer is suited for tight-tolerance applications where bore finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry provides a clean, consistent surface finish on through and blind holes. Constructed from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it is compatible with conventional cutting fluids and operates effectively across a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals reach for this reamer when drilling alone cannot achieve the required fit.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in drill presses, lathes, CNC machining centers, and manual mills where a straight-cylindrical shank can be held securely in a drill chuck or collet. At 2 inches overall length with a 0.75 inch flute length, it is sized for small-bore reaming operations in precision components, jigs, fixtures, and tooling blocks. The compact overall length makes it well suited for close-quarters setups and short-reach spindle applications in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for any drill press, lathe, or machining center spindle that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank reamer in the wire gauge size range.
A licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician should install and operate this reamer. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. The straight-cylindrical shank must be seated squarely and fully clamped in a drill chuck or collet to prevent runout that would damage the cutting edges or the finished bore. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid during reaming to extend tool life and improve bore finish.
