The HERTEL 72039522 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent bore sizing and smooth surface finish in a machine-held setup. The reamer measures 0.9520 inches in diameter with a 10-inch overall length and a 2-5/8-inch flute length. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in a drill chuck or collet holder, and the right-hand cutting direction suits standard spindle rotation. Eight flutes provide even material removal and improved bore roundness compared to lower-flute-count tools.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and job-shop machining where close-tolerance holes in the 0.7000 to 0.9999 inch diameter range are required. Typical applications include reaming pre-drilled or bored holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals using a drill press, lathe, or machining center. It is not configured as a dowel-pin reamer or an over/under-size reamer, making it appropriate for standard nominal sizing work.
Designed as a machine-held chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and machining centers that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the applicable diameter range.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely fixtured before mounting or removing the tool. The reamer should be held in a properly sized chuck or collet to minimize runout. Always use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore quality.
