The HERTEL 72036429 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and similar materials. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent dimensional accuracy on through-holes and blind holes across a wide range of machining applications. The 8-flute design provides smooth cutting action and a quality surface finish on the reamed bore. At 0.6420 inches in diameter with a 9 inch overall length and a 2.25 inch flute length, it fits standard drill press chucks and CNC or manual lathe toolholding setups. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine operation.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop, maintenance, and production environments where a reamed finish is required to bring a drilled or bored hole to a precise finished diameter. It is appropriate for use on drill presses, lathes, and milling machines with a drill chuck or collet. Typical applications include bearing fits, bushing bores, pin holes, and any close-tolerance cylindrical fit requiring a reamed surface. The straight-cylindrical shank allows secure clamping in a standard three-jaw chuck or collet holder without special adapters.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a drill chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.5000 to 0.6999 inch diameter class.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals using standard machine toolholding equipment. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits for the required bore tolerance. Always apply a suitable cutting fluid for the workpiece material and operate at recommended reaming speeds, which are typically lower than drilling speeds. Do not attempt to remove excessive stock with a reamer; pre-drill or bore the hole to within the appropriate allowance before reaming.
