The HERTEL 72035025 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to a precise 0.5020-inch diameter. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it provides reliable performance in general-purpose reaming applications on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With a 6-flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction, it delivers smooth stock removal and consistent sizing across production and job-shop environments. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians use this reamer to bring drilled or bored holes to close-tolerance finished dimensions.
This chucking reamer is suited for use in manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and turret lathes where a straight-cylindrical shank is the required interface. The 8-inch overall length (OAL) provides reach for moderate-depth applications, while the 2-inch flute length accommodates typical through-hole and shallow blind-hole reaming tasks. It falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999 decimal-inch reamer diameter range category and carries UNSPSC code 23241611, consistent with standard machine reamer classification.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool accepting a straight-cylindrical shank, including drill presses, CNC mills, lathes, and gang-drilling fixtures where a 0.5020-inch finished hole diameter is required.
This reamer is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician — ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely seated and indicated true before reaming begins. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock; pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended allowance before reaming. Handle the cutting edges with care to avoid nicking, which degrades hole-size accuracy and surface finish.
