The HERTEL 72034218 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to precise final diameter. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers reliable cutting performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 0.4210-inch diameter reamer runs at a 7-inch overall length with a 1.75-inch flute length, providing ample reach for through-holes and shallow blind-hole finishing work. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Six right-hand flutes distribute cutting load evenly, improving surface finish and extending tool life in production and maintenance environments. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this tool class.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop, maintenance-repair-operations (MRO), and toolroom applications where hole sizing to close tolerance is required. It is used in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers wherever a straight-cylindrical shank is the appropriate holding method. Typical applications include final sizing of pin-fit and close-tolerance clearance holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass workpieces. It is not configured as a dowel pin reamer or as an over/under-size reamer.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and machining centers that accept a straight-cylindrical shank holder; suitable wherever a 0.4210-inch final hole diameter is required.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists following standard shop practices. Always secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce heat and improve finish. Follow your facility safety and machine guarding procedures whenever operating rotating tooling.
