The HERTEL 72034192 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent sizing and smooth surface finishes in a wide range of workpiece materials. The tool measures 0.4190 inches in diameter with a 7-inch overall length and a 1.75-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders, making it a reliable choice for manual and CNC machine tool setups. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users of this type of reamer.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing drilled or bored holes to tight dimensional tolerances in production and job-shop environments. It is commonly used in drill press, lathe, and milling machine setups where a precise 0.4190-inch finished bore diameter is required. The 6-flute geometry distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter and improving roundness in the finished hole. Typical applications include fixture work, bearing fits, and close-tolerance assembly holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable metals.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or straight-shank collet holder sized to accept the shank diameter.
Install and remove reamers only with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet holder to prevent slippage under cutting load, which can damage the tool or the workpiece bore. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Reaming is a finishing operation — pre-drill or bore the hole to the correct undersize allowance before reaming to the final diameter.
