The HERTEL 72033202 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream holes to a precise 0.3200-inch diameter. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this 6-flute reamer delivers clean, accurate bores in a wide range of metals and plastics. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in drill chucks, collets, and floating holders. At 6 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch flute length, it is well suited for through-holes and shallow blind-hole finishing in production and maintenance machining environments. Right-hand cutting direction follows standard spindle rotation. No special setup is required beyond proper chuck runout alignment and appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material.
This reamer is used in machine shop, toolroom, and maintenance repair operations where a reamed finish and close-diameter tolerance are required. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, drill presses, and turret lathes. The 0.3200-inch diameter falls within the 0.3000- to 0.3499-inch range, making it a common size for pin-fit bores, bearing seats, and dowel-hole finishing across general industrial and production applications. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use wherever a 0.3200-inch straight-flute HSS reamer is specified; fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by qualified machinists following standard shop safety and toolholding procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the reamer from the holder. Verify chuck or collet runout before reaming to maintain diameter tolerance; excessive runout will oversize the bore. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
