The HERTEL 72026859 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to a precise finished diameter. With a cutting diameter of 0.2685 inches, a 6-inch overall length, and a 1.5-inch flute length, this reamer delivers accurate sizing in a compact, rigid form. The straight flute geometry and bright uncoated finish make it well-suited for reaming through a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard drill chucks, collets, or machine spindles. Right-hand cutting direction conforms to conventional machine spindle rotation. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on manual or CNC machine tools.
This chucking reamer is used in machining environments where hole tolerances demand more precision than a drill alone can achieve. Typical applications include finishing holes in fixtures, jigs, dies, and production parts where close dimensional control is required. The 6-flute configuration distributes cutting load evenly, reduces chatter, and produces a smoother bore finish compared to fewer-flute designs. It is suited for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers across light manufacturing, tool rooms, and maintenance shops.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in machine tools that accept a straight-cylindrical shank tooling, including drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and machining centers.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the reamer. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet with adequate gripping length to prevent slippage under load. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, and take only the recommended amount of stock removal per pass to avoid overloading the flutes or distorting the finished bore.
