The HERTEL 72025158 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. Machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent dimensional accuracy when enlarging and finishing pre-drilled or bored holes to tight tolerances. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks, collets, or floating holders. At 0.2515 inches in diameter with a 6-inch overall length and a 1.5-inch flute length, it is well suited for moderate-depth through and blind hole operations. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine spindle rotation.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, drill presses, and engine lathes where hole quality and size consistency are critical. Typical applications include finishing holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials in job shop, production, and maintenance-repair-operations (MRO) environments. The 6-flute configuration distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter and improving surface finish in the reamed bore. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, ER collet systems, and floating reamer holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Confirm shank diameter clearance and machine spindle speed range before installation.
Installation and operation of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid selection for reaming operations. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the reamer from the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened to the appropriate holding force before cutting. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within the manufacturer-recommended allowance before reaming.
