The HERTEL 72019706 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent sizing and smooth surface finish on through-holes and blind holes. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. At 0.1970 inches in diameter with a 5-inch overall length and a 1-1/4-inch flute length, this reamer is suited for finishing close-tolerance bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Right-hand cutting direction with 6 flutes provides efficient chip clearance and accurate sizing. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and production CNC operators are the primary users.
This reamer is used in machine tool setups requiring accurate finish reaming of holes in the 0.1500 to 0.1999-inch diameter range. Typical applications include precision bore finishing on manual mills, drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers. It is well suited for production runs where consistent hole diameter and surface finish are critical, including fixture work, bearing bores, and dowel pin hole finishing where close tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style machine reamer for use in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating reamer holders on drill presses, milling machines, lathes, and CNC machining centers accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Chucking reamers should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet holder before operation and verify runout with an indicator when tolerance is critical. Always ream at recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material, and use appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality. Never use a reamer to correct a significantly misaligned or undersized hole — pre-drill or bore to within a few thousandths of final size before reaming.
