The HERTEL 72016207 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled or bored holes to precise diameter tolerances. At 0.1620 inches in diameter with a 4.5-inch overall length and a 1.125-inch straight flute section, this tool removes minimal material to bring a hole to a accurate final size. The six-flute, right-hand cutting geometry distributes cutting load evenly and produces a smooth bore finish. The bright, uncoated HSS construction is well-suited for use in standard and lower-alloy workpiece materials where coolant or cutting oil is applied during the operation. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals reach for this reamer when hole finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary requirements.
This chucking reamer is used in drill press, lathe, or machining center applications where a straight-cylindrical shank can be gripped directly in a drill chuck or collet. It is sized within the 0.1500 to 0.1999 inch diameter range, making it appropriate for small-bore finish work in metalworking operations. Typical applications include finishing holes in steel, aluminum, and similar materials where a close tolerance fit is required for pins, dowels, or fasteners. It is sold and packaged individually.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.1500 to 0.1999 inch diameter range.
A licensed machinist or trained toolroom operator should mount this reamer in a properly sized chuck or collet before use. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid or oil during reaming to extend tool life and achieve the target surface finish. Do not use this reamer to remove large amounts of stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of the finished diameter before reaming.
