The HERTEL 72015654 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to bring drilled or bored holes to a precise finished diameter. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent sizing performance in general-purpose metalworking applications. The reamer measures 0.1565 inches in diameter, has an overall length of 4 inches, and a 1-inch flute length. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With four right-hand cutting flutes, it removes material evenly and produces a smooth bore surface. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians use this tool on manual lathes, knee mills, and CNC machines for finish reaming operations.
This chucking reamer is suited for light finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where hole tolerance and surface finish matter. The 0.1565-inch diameter falls within the 0.1500 to 0.1999 inch reamer diameter range, making it a standard selection for close-tolerance work in production and job-shop environments. It is not configured as a dowel pin reamer or an over/under size reamer, so it is intended for on-size finishing to nominal diameter.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with drill chucks or collet systems accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in this diameter range.
Power down and lock out the machine spindle before installing or removing the reamer from the chuck or collet. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened securely before beginning a cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Chucking reamers are finish tools — pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended stock allowance before reaming to avoid overloading the flutes.
