The HERTEL 72011901 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and other machinable materials. With a reamer diameter of 0.1190 inches and a straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry with straight flutes provides smooth, consistent material removal. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose applications where coating chemistry is not a factor. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 7/8-inch flute length, this reamer is well-suited for shallow-to-moderate depth finish reaming. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shop, maintenance, and production environments where drilled holes require accurate final sizing. It is compatible with standard drill presses, lathes, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines using a drill chuck or appropriate collet. The straight-cylindrical shank allows secure clamping without the need for a taper adapter. Right-hand cutting direction is the standard orientation for conventional drilling and reaming setups. Applications include bore finishing in ferrous and non-ferrous metals within the 0.1000 to 0.1499-inch decimal diameter range this reamer falls into.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or collet holder sized for a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.1000 to 0.1499-inch diameter range.
This reamer is installed and operated by machinists and tooling professionals following standard shop safety practices. Always secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck or collet before operation and verify spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance for the finish requirement. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve the target surface finish. Do not use this tool to remove excess stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to near-final size before reaming.
