The HERTEL 72009558 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to bring drilled or bored holes to a precise finished diameter. Built with four straight flutes and a right-hand cutting direction, it delivers clean, accurate bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose reaming applications where coolant or cutting fluid is typically applied at the machine. With a nominal diameter of 0.0955 inches, an overall length of 3 inches, and a 0.75-inch flute length, this reamer is sized for small-hole finishing work on manual or CNC equipment. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in drill chucks or collet holders.
This reamer is used in machine shop, toolroom, and production environments where a small-diameter hole must be held to a tight tolerance. It is suited for drilling machine spindles, lathes, and machining centers running at appropriate speeds and feeds for HSS tooling. Machinists, tool and die makers, and production operators working on fixtures, bushings, and precision assemblies are the typical end users. The 0.0955-inch diameter falls within the 0.0500 to 0.0999 inch reamer diameter range commonly used for pin-fit holes and close-clearance bore work.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in drill chucks, collet holders, and reamer holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the corresponding bore size range.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists using drilling machines, lathes, or machining centers. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation, and verify runout before cutting. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for HSS reaming to maintain dimensional accuracy and tool life.
